From a very user-friendly interface, the app helps you configure your device in minutes if not seconds, since defining and switching through controller layouts and configurations is very easy to do.
#Flirc usb dongle software
When you draw the line, Flirc is a necessary piece of software for an amazing device. It then converts the incoming signals into keystrokes. This device is capable of receiving signals from your remote control. The product offers support for Linux, OS X, and Windows operating systems. A very useful companion software with just a few, small drawbacks Flirc is basically a USB dongle offering a combination of an infra-red receiver and a micro controller, which works as a keyboard. So if you own a custom controller and you'd like another remote to emulate one of its special buttons, that will not be possible, unfortunately. Furthermore, there's no way to clone custom buttons. While most common controllers - and even a keyboard - are covered, a generic/universal remote control layout is missing, so if you're trying to emulate one, you'll have to improvise using one of the existing layouts. As you'll surely notice, Flirc only provides access to a limited number of controllers and it's impossible to create and use a custom layout, you'll only be able to use those predefined. Just grab your remote control and assign buttons from the virtual layout to your remote's buttons. Once you've decided which controller you'd like to emulate and selected it, you're good to go. This Flirc works nicely, and to all commands.

From the menu bar, you can easily access the File menu, which enables you to save, load or clear configurations, or the Controllers menu, which allows you to easily switch between a variety of layouts. Once installed, you'll be able to run the application and its main window will be displayed, which you'll probably use exclusively.
#Flirc usb dongle drivers
Flirc's only requirement is, of course, the device that you'll be configuring, so the setup process should run smoothly, even though it might take a few seconds until the necessary drivers are installed. In order to be used, the device doesn't require this or any other software to be installed on the host machine. Please keep in mind that Flirc is used only to configure the device. After a short installation process, the friendly user interface is displayed What does that mean exactly? You can, for example, control your media center with your TV's remote, even though your TV isn't natively capable of doing that (Consumer Electronics Control or CEC feature missing). The USB dongle was created for those interested in controlling their media devices (or computers) with a remote control. Flirc is a software designed to help you configure a USB dongle with the same name.
